MANILA MONTET, THE MISSED OPPORTUNITY?

We’ve been watching the first games of the new PFL season and honestly, we keep asking ourselves: what if Manila Montet was there?

Looking at the current squad and what we’ve seen on the pitch, we really believe Montet could be fighting for the top places.

Nobody knows for sure, of course. Maybe we are wrong. But after the disaster of 2024 on the pitch, coming back a couple of years later and suddenly being one of the best teams in the league would be a pretty amazing story.

And this is where we dont fully understand the decision not to join.

Manila Montet says it wants to help Filipino football. But isn't one of the best ways to do that actually to be part of the league? Bring the supporters, bring the attention, bring more people watching PFL.

It would also finally answer the question everyone keeps asking: how good is Manila Montet really against the best since they changed their recruitment practices and started hiring foreign talents?

On the other side, we are also hearing more and more stories that some PFL clubs are asking players to pay to play. We cannot confirm every case, so we’ll leave that with a big question mark.

But if its true... a supposedly professional player paying to play football?

That is really wrong.

Maybe Philippine football is still not working the way a professional league should.

Anyway, as fans, we would just love to see our team back on the pitch against the best.

After 2024, imagine the comeback story if Manila Montet could return and finish among the top teams. 🩵🇵🇭
